Vocalocity Earns Placement on Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 500|5000 for Second Consecutive Year
September 08, 2011
Inc. magazine has ranked Vocalocity No. 606 on its fifth annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. This is the second year in a row that the cloud-based phone service has been recognized on the list, which represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs.
Over a three-year period, Vocalocity revenue grew 539 percent to $14.2 million in 2010 from $2.2 million in 2007. In August, Vocalocity announced it had merged with competitor Aptela – also recognized on the 2011 Inc. 5000 – making it the market-leading hosted VoIP phone solution for small businesses.
“We are pleased to have been recognized by Inc. for the second year in a row,” said Wain Kellum, CEO of Vocalocity. “We work hard to achieve growth by listening to customers and investing in our proprietary, high-quality technology that that sets us apart from other service providers. Vocalocity is the fastest-growing hosted communications company focused solely on small business and with our recent merger with Aptela, we are extending our market leadership.”
Vocalocity provides hosted VoIP phone systems to small businesses around the nation seeking flat-rate communications solutions. The company’s goal is to power small businesses with easy-to-use, clear and reliable telephony systems. In addition to its recognition as a fast-growing company and an award-winning telework advocate, the company continues to release innovative features designed to strengthen small businesses.
Companies on the 2011 Inc. 500|5000 are ranked according to percentage of revenue growth over three years. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2007. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2010. The minimum revenue required for 2007 is $100,000; the minimum for 2010 is $2 million.
"Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward. Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” said Inc. magazine editor Jane Berentson.
