800 Plumbing has been in business for the last 9 years and serves the US and Canada and 14 other countries that are on the North American Numbering plan (NANPA). 800 Plumbing licenses the vanity telephone number 1-800-PLUMBING to qualified local plumbing contractors. They are a resource for emergency plumbing, as well as home plumbing repair advice. 800-Plumbing routes calls to local plumbing services through its phone menu, so that callers can find a plumbing service near them. After dialing 800 Plumbing, the Virtual Receptionist prompts the caller to enter their 5 digit postal area code, and then routes the call accordingly.

Phone System Challenges:

800 Plumbing was originally using Vodavi Starplus STS with Qwest phone service. While the system offered a PBX that could route phone calls, the features and functionality were not flexible, and were location specific. Alan Cline spends his time in 2 different locations, and forwarding his number between different locations was cumbersome and inefficient. He needed full access to all the features of his phone system regardless of what location he was in. His physical PBX was not flexible in this way and couldn’t be easily managed from a web portal.

Additionally the cost of his service was quite high. He was frustrated both by the expense and inefficiency of his system. Despite these problems, he was still concerned about switching to a new business telephone system because of concerns about reliability. His company’s success is based almost entirely on the ability to connect calls reliably, and so a rock solid business phone system was extremely important. Despite these concerns, the high cost and rigidity of his old system eventually caused him to look for a change.

Vocalocity Success:

800 Plumbing switched to Vocalocity's business telephone service in March 2010, and could not be happier with the quality of service, the feature set, and the reliability. Alan loves that he has the ability to take his phone anywhere, plug it into an internet connection, and have a seamless transition of all of his phone number, system features, and full functionality. His favorite features are the 3 way conference calling and Caller ID block. He’s cut his phone bill in half, and likes the service so much that he even started offering it to his licensees.

Vocalocity’s hosted PBX business telephone system allows Alan to update his system from an easy to manage web portal. He doesn’t need to call in or have someone come out to physically manage his PBX. All the rules of his Virtual Receptionist, his voicemail settings, and every other feature can be updated through a single web portal that he can access from anywhere.
