No, we are not an Internet service provider. We are a hosted phone service provider which means that once you have a high-speed Internet connection at your office, our system will work directly with your Internet to make and receive calls.

What is the difference between analog and VoIP phones?

Analog telephones communicate with one another over traditional copper wires while VoIP phones transfer information via the Internet.over a broadband internet connection to another phone where the stream of voice data is reassembled into its original form.

How do you make calls over a VoIP connection?

The same way you would with an ordinary telephone. The only difference is that you use an IP phone that is plugged into an Ethernet connection instead of a phone jack because the call is made digitally over the internet.

Do I “own” my number? Can I keep my toll free number if I choose to cancel?

Yes, you can take any phone number with you to a new provider should you choose to leave Vocalocity for any reason.

What is Unified Messaging?

You can check your voicemail in 4 different places: 1. Directly from your IP phone. 2. By calling in remotely and entering your PIN. 3. By email though voicemail-to-email. 4. Through visual voicemail in the online interface.

How much does service with Vocalocity cost?

What extra charges can I expect each month?

The popular Vocalocity unlimited national calling plan delivers flat rate VoIP pricing per extension for unlimited calling in the US and Canada. Metered extensions and international calling may incur per minute charges.

What are the different payment options?

Vocalocity accepts credit card payments for all startup and monthly services.

How are minutes used and how much do they cost?

There are no minute-based charges with Vocalocity’s unlimited plan when calling within the continental U.S. and Canada. Our Metered Extension plan costs $14.99 per month with an additional 3¢ per minute charge on top.

Are there charges for checking messages?

What kind of commitment do I have to make to Vocalocity?

What do I need to use Vocalocity Hosted-PBX?

All you need is a high speed internet connection and an IP phone. Soft Phones (a software program that emulates a telephone key pad) can also be used in conjunction with a headset and a computer. Vocalocity’s service is a Cloud PBX, meaning that all the necessary tools for your phone system are hosted in the cloud.

Do I need a phone line or special equipment to make this work?

All that is required is a broadband connection with a modem and a router to use Vocalocity’s Hosted-PBX service.

Does Vocalocity Hosted-PBX replace my phone system?

Yes, it replaces expensive and outdated phone system hardware and eliminates the need to buy new equipment.

How much Internet Bandwidth do I need?

Each active call with Vocalocity requires approximately 64 kbps up/down of bandwidth from a DSL, Cable, T1, or Fiber broadband connection.

How much technical skill is required to set-up and use the service?

Virtually none. The IP phones are plug-and-play and will arrive ready to make and receive calls the instant they’re plugged into a broadband connection, right out of the box. The account settings can easily be administered from our user-friendly online interface.

Do you offer equipment leasing?

Vocalocity does not offer an equipment leasing program at this time.

Do you support physical fax machines?

Vocalocity only supports a paperless fax-to-email/email-to-fax solution. It has been our determination that fax over IP using a traditional fax machine lacks the reliability our customers demand.

What software do I need to install?

None. Vocalocity’s service is entirely web-based and can be accessed from any internet browser.
